The Copa América Femenina is a major football tournament for women's national teams in South America. It is often called the Sudamericano Femenino. This exciting competition is organized by CONMEBOL, the main football group for South America. It is the women's version of the famous Copa América for men.

The tournament first took place in 1991. For many years, it was the way South American teams qualified for the FIFA Women's World Cup. The top teams from the Copa América Femenina earned a spot to play on the world stage.

Since 2025, the tournament has been held every two years, making it even more frequent! Now, the Copa América Femenina helps teams qualify for other big events. These include the Pan American Games and the Summer Olympic Games. There is now a separate way for teams to qualify for the Women's World Cup.

There are also versions of this tournament for younger players. These include the Under-20 and Under-17 championships. This helps future football stars gain valuable experience!
