What is Core Creek?

Core Creek is a natural waterway, much like a small river. It plays an important role in the local environment. Streams like Core Creek help carry water across the land. They also provide homes for many plants and animals.

Where Does Core Creek Start?

Every stream has a beginning, called its headwaters. Core Creek starts on the north side of a ridge, which is a long, narrow hill. This starting point is about 1,150 feet above sea level. It is located just north of Missouri Route 32. The small community of Falcon is about 1.5 miles southeast of where the creek begins.

Where Does Core Creek Flow?

From its headwaters, Core Creek flows for about three miles. It travels in a northwest direction. The creek continues its journey until it reaches its confluence with the Osage Fork Gasconade River. A confluence is the place where two or more rivers or streams join together. This meeting point is just north of the community of Dryknob.
