Corey Grant (born December 22, 1976) is a well-known Canadian football coach and former player. He played as a wide receiver in the Canadian Football League (CFL) for 11 years. During his time as a player, he won two Grey Cup championships. Today, he is the head coach for the Carleton Ravens football team of U Sports.
Corey Grant's Football Journey
Playing in University
Corey Grant started his football career playing for the Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks. He played university football from 1995 to 1998.
Professional Playing Career
After finishing his university studies, Grant was chosen in the 1999 CFL Draft. He was the seventh player picked overall.
Hamilton Tiger-Cats (Player)
Corey Grant was drafted by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in 1999. He played in all 18 regular season games that year. He caught 56 passes for 875 yards and scored three touchdowns. For his great performance, he won the Frank M. Gibson Trophy. This award is given to the East Division's Most Outstanding Rookie.
He also won his first Grey Cup championship with the Tiger-Cats in 1999. They defeated the Calgary Stampeders in the 87th Grey Cup game. Grant continued to play for the Tiger-Cats in 2000 and 2001.
Montreal Alouettes
Before the 2002 season, Grant joined the Montreal Alouettes. He played in 13 games for them, catching 25 passes for 385 yards.
Saskatchewan Roughriders
During the 2002 CFL season, Grant was traded to the Saskatchewan Roughriders. He played as a backup receiver for the rest of that season. In 2003, he played in all 18 regular season games. He made 39 catches for 511 yards and scored three touchdowns.
Grant played for the Roughriders for seven seasons. A big highlight was winning the 2007 Grey Cup. The Roughriders beat the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in that championship game. Grant had two catches for 20 yards in the game.
Hamilton Tiger-Cats (Return)
Corey Grant returned to the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on June 26, 2009. He played in eight regular season games, catching nine passes for 89 yards and one touchdown. He decided to retire from playing just before the 2010 CFL season on June 3, 2010.
Coaching Career
After his playing days, Corey Grant started a successful coaching career.
McMaster Marauders
Grant became the receivers coach for the McMaster Marauders in 2010. In 2011, the Marauders won their first ever Vanier Cup. They defeated the Laval Rouge et Or in the 47th Vanier Cup. Under Grant's coaching, receiver Michael DiCroce was named the OUA MVP that year. Grant coached with the Marauders for two years.
Hamilton Tiger-Cats (Coach)
On March 21, 2013, Grant was named the running backs coach for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. He also worked as an offensive quality control coach. He spent six seasons coaching with the Tiger-Cats. During this time, the team reached the Grey Cup championship game twice.
McMaster Marauders (Return as Coach)
Grant returned to the McMaster Marauders on January 31, 2019. He was named the team's offensive coordinator. In his first season back, the team won the Yates Cup. He also helped create the Female Coaching Apprenticeship program at McMaster. This was the first program of its kind in U SPORTS. It helped two women get assistant coaching positions.
Carleton Ravens
On March 18, 2022, it was announced that Corey Grant was hired as the head coach for the Carleton Ravens.

Corey Grant is married to Jennifer. They have two children named Qiawna and Devonn.
