Playing Career
Corey Williams was picked by the Chicago Bulls in the 1992 NBA draft. He played one season with the Bulls. During that time, he helped the team win the NBA Championship in 1993. He then played a few games for the Minnesota Timberwolves in the 1993–94 season. He also played for the Oklahoma City Cavalry in another league called the Continental Basketball Association.
A Surprising NFL Draft Pick
Interestingly, Williams was also chosen by the Kansas City Chiefs in the 1992 NFL draft. This was quite a surprise because he hadn't played football since he was in junior high! However, he decided not to join the Chiefs and focused on basketball.
Playing in Taiwan
After playing in American leagues, Williams went back to Oklahoma State as a student assistant coach. He was part of the team's staff when they reached the Final Four in 1994. In 1995, he moved to Taiwan to play professionally for the Dacin Tigers in the Chinese Basketball Alliance. He was a key player for his team, leading in assists and scoring many points until 1998.
Coaching Career
After his playing days, Corey Williams became a basketball coach. He started as an assistant coach at Oral Roberts University, where he worked from 2000 to 2007. Then, he moved to Florida State University and was an assistant coach there from 2007 to 2013.

On June 3, 2013, Williams became the head coach for the Stetson University men's basketball team. He coached Stetson for six years. During his time there, his team had a record of 58 wins and 133 losses. He left Stetson on March 6, 2019.
Current Coaching Role
After Stetson, Williams continued his career as an assistant coach. He worked for the Arkansas Razorbacks from 2019 to 2021. Then, he joined the Texas Tech Red Raiders as an assistant coach from 2021 to 2023, even serving as an interim head coach for a short time in 2023.
