Corinthian-Casuals Football Club is a football team based in Tolworth, England. They are famous for their history and amateur spirit. The club plays its home games at King George's Field. They are currently members of the Isthmian League Premier Division league.

Club History

The Corinthian-Casuals club was formed in 1939. It was created by joining two older amateur clubs: Corinthian (started in 1882) and Casuals (started in 1883). The new team played only one game before football stopped because of World War II.

Early Years and Cup Runs

After the war, the club joined the Isthmian League. In the 1953–54 season, they won the Surrey Senior Cup. They beat Epsom 2–0 in the final match. Two seasons later, they reached the final of the FA Amateur Cup. They drew 1–1 against Bishop Auckland at Wembley Stadium. However, they lost the replay game 4–1.

The next season, they made it to the semi-finals of the same competition. They lost 4–2 to Wycombe Wanderers. In the 1965–66 season, the club played in the first round of the FA Cup for the first time. They lost 5–1 at home to Watford, a team from a higher division.

League Challenges and Comebacks

In the late 1960s and early 1970s, Corinthian-Casuals faced tough times in the league. They finished last in the 1968–69 season. They also finished last for four years in a row from 1970–71 to 1973–74. After this, they were moved down to a lower division called Division Two.

The league changed names, and the club was moved down again in 1977–78. In the 1983–84 FA Cup, they reached the first round again. They drew 0–0 with Bristol City but lost the replay 4–0. After this season, new rules meant they had to leave the Isthmian League. They then joined the Spartan League.

They were moved down to the Senior Division in their first year in the Spartan League. But they quickly bounced back! They won the Senior Division the very next season. This was the club's first-ever league title, and it meant they moved straight back up.

Brazilian Tours and Recent Seasons

In 1988–89, Corinthian-Casuals went on a special trip to Brazil. They even played a match against a famous Brazilian team called Corinthians. The legendary player Sócrates played for both teams in that game!

In 1994–95, they won the Spartan League Cup. In 1996, the club moved to the Combined Counties League. They finished second in their first season there. In 1997, they returned to the Isthmian League.

They toured Brazil again in 2001. In 2010–11, they won the Surrey Senior Cup for the second time. They beat Leatherhead 2–0 in the final. The club visited Brazil once more in 2015 to play Corinthians again, but this time the Brazilian team won 3–0.

In the 2016–17 season, they finished fourth in their division. This allowed them to play in the promotion play-offs. They won their semi-final but lost the final on penalties.

The 2017–18 season saw them finish fifth and reach the play-offs again. They won their semi-final but lost the final on penalties once more. However, they were still promoted to the Premier Division! This happened because they had one of the best records among all the play-off finalists at their level.

In the 2022–23 season, they were moved down to the South Central Division. The next season, 2023–24, they finished last in that division. This meant they were moved down again, this time to the Combined Counties League Premier Division South.

Home Ground

When the club first started, they played their first game at Lambeth Palace. After World War II, they played at Kingstonian's Richmond Road ground. This ground had been used by the Casuals club before the merger.

However, they moved often in the following years. They played at many different places, including the Polytechnic Ground, the Oval, Dulwich Hamlet's Champion Hill, and Tooting & Mitcham United's Sandy Lane.

King George's Field

In 1988, Corinthian-Casuals joined with Tolworth and took over their ground, King George's Field. This was a big moment because it was the first time the club owned its own home ground.

The ground used to have a running track around the pitch, but it was later removed. Now, there are covered areas for fans to stand behind both goals. There is also a stand along one side of the pitch with some seats. These seats came from other famous football grounds!

King George's Field can hold up to 2,000 people. About 250 of these are seated spots.
