David "Corky" Calhoun was born on November 1, 1950. He is an American former professional basketball player. Corky played in the NBA from 1972 to 1980. Before that, he played college basketball for the Penn Quakers. He was chosen by the Phoenix Suns as the 4th overall pick in the 1972 NBA draft. Corky Calhoun won an NBA championship with the Portland Trail Blazers in the 1976–1977 season.

Playing in College
Corky Calhoun played college basketball for the University of Pennsylvania. He was part of the Penn Quakers team in the Ivy League. In 84 games, he averaged 12.7 points and 8.1 rebounds. His coach was Chuck Daly. In his final year, Corky helped Penn reach the East Regional Final of the NCAA tournament. His team had an impressive record of 25 wins and only 3 losses that season.
NBA Career Highlights
After college, Corky Calhoun was picked by the Phoenix Suns in the 1972 NBA draft. He was the 4th player chosen overall. He also got picked by the Kentucky Colonels in the 1972 American Basketball Association draft.
Corky played for the Phoenix Suns for three years. Then, he was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers. In 1976, he joined the Portland Trail Blazers. He became a key part of their team that won the NBA championship that year. After two seasons with the Blazers, Corky was traded to the Indiana Pacers.
