Cormaranche-en-Bugey was once a small town, or commune, in eastern France. It was located in the Ain department. The name means "Cormaranche in Bugey," referring to the Bugey region.
A commune is like a local government area in France. It's similar to a small town or village with its own local council. On January 1, 2019, Cormaranche-en-Bugey joined with other nearby communes. They formed a new, larger commune called Plateau d'Hauteville. This means it is no longer a separate commune on its own.
