Correll Buckhalter (born October 6, 1978) is a former professional football player. He played as a running back for eight seasons in the National Football League (NFL). Correll played college football for the Nebraska Cornhuskers. The Philadelphia Eagles chose him in the fourth round of the 2001 NFL draft. He played for the Eagles from 2001 to 2008. Later, he played for the Denver Broncos for two seasons, in 2009 and 2010.

Early Years in Football

Correll Buckhalter went to Collins High School in Collins, Mississippi. He was a star player in football. During his last two years of high school, he ran for over 3,000 yards. He was chosen for the all-state team. In his junior year, he rushed for 1,302 yards. As a senior, he gained 1,722 yards and scored 12 touchdowns. Correll graduated from Collins High in 1997.

College Football Career

At the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, Correll Buckhalter played in 46 games. He became one of the top rushers in the school's history. He finished eighth all-time with 2,522 rushing yards. He had 11 games where he ran for over 100 yards. He scored 27 touchdowns for the Cornhuskers.

Correll Buckhalter's NFL career had some challenges due to injuries. He missed the 2002 season because of a serious knee injury. He also missed the 2004 and 2005 seasons due to other knee problems.

In his first year, 2001, Buckhalter showed how talented he was. He shared playing time with Duce Staley. Correll rushed for 586 yards and averaged 4.5 yards per carry. This set a new team record for rushing yards by a rookie. He scored two touchdowns that season.

Buckhalter returned to the field in the 2003 season. He played alongside Duce Staley and Brian Westbrook. Correll led the team in rushing attempts and rushing touchdowns, scoring eight times. He gained 542 yards that year.

In 2006, Correll played in all 16 games, starting only once. He rushed for 345 yards on 83 carries. He also caught 24 passes for 256 receiving yards and scored three touchdowns. After this season, the Eagles signed him again for two more years.

In 2007, he played as a running back and also returned kicks. He had 313 rushing yards. He averaged 21.6 yards per kick return.

On February 27, 2009, Buckhalter joined the Denver Broncos. In 2009, his ninth season in the NFL, he had his best year for rushing. He gained 642 rushing yards and averaged 5.4 yards per carry. He also caught 31 passes.

In 2010, Correll played in 15 games as a reserve player. He rushed for 147 yards and caught 28 passes for 240 yards. He scored 4 touchdowns in total. On July 28, 2011, the Broncos released him.

Correll Buckhalter is a cousin of Tampa Bay Buccaneers cornerback Brandon McDonald. Correll has faced many challenges in his life. His mother passed away when he was young.

Correll owns a special horse named 'Absolutely No Doubt.' This Quarter Horse stallion was a national champion in 2008.
