Cory Bowles (born August 27, 1973) is a talented Canadian actor, director, and choreographer. He is probably best known for playing the character Cory in the popular TV show Trailer Park Boys. He has also directed many TV shows and movies.

Life and Career

Cory Bowles was born in Montreal, Quebec. He grew up in Truro, Nova Scotia.

Cory became famous for his role as Cory in Trailer Park Boys. But he does many other things too! He is a main choreographer for a dance company called Verve Mwendo. A choreographer creates dance routines. He also plays in a rock band called Aide-De-Camp. You might even know his voice from the children's TV show Poko.

In the mid-1990s, Cory was known as "Chek Love". He was the MC (master of ceremonies) for a hip hop group called Hip Club Groove. The group released music and toured across Canada. They often opened shows for other bands from Halifax, like Sloan.

Later, in 1997, Cory started a theatre company. He worked with his bandmate Joseph Wynne. After that, he studied more about dance and choreography in Alberta.

Cory won a Gemini Award for his work on Trailer Park Boys. He also received nominations for music awards. His unique dance moves have been featured in music videos for artists like Matt Mays.

Cory left Trailer Park Boys after its sixth season in 2006. He continued to work in film, theatre, and music. He rejoined the cast of Trailer Park Boys in 2013. This happened when Netflix started making new seasons of the show.

Cory wrote, directed, and narrated a movie called Black Cop. This film won an award for Best Canadian Feature Film. It was at the 2017 Vancouver International Film Festival. It also won the John Dunning Discovery Award at the 6th Canadian Screen Awards.

Since Black Cop, Cory has directed many episodes of Canadian TV series. These include Coroner, Pretty Hard Cases, and Diggstown.

Personal Life

Cory Bowles is an African-Nova Scotian. His family has roots among Black Loyalists and Maroons. These groups were early Black settlers in Canada. Cory has traveled around the world. He studies the history of Black dance and music. He is very passionate about his cultural background. He also loves the storytelling traditions of the African Diaspora. This refers to people of African origin living outside of Africa.
