History of Cotter
Cotter was first created in 1878 by a woman named Margaret E. Cotter. It was originally called Cotterville. The city was built along the Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railroad, which was an important train line at the time.
Where is Cotter Located?
Cotter is located in Iowa, about 5.5 miles (8.9 km) west of Columbus Junction. It sits right on Iowa Highway 92. The city is also just one mile east of the border between Louisa and Washington counties.
