Craggy Island is a small, narrow island in Antarctica. It gets its name from the many crags (jagged rocks or cliffs) that cover it. The island is located in Hero Bay, which is part of Livingston Island in the South Shetland Islands. It forms the northeast side of Blythe Bay.
Craggy Island is quite small, with a surface area of about 9 hectares (that's about 22 acres). In the early 1800s, English and American sealers often visited this area, especially Blythe Bay, to hunt seals.
The island was first mapped and given its descriptive name by a group called the Discovery Investigations in 1935. They were explorers who charted many parts of the Antarctic region.
