Cremorne is a small, quiet place where people live, located in Tasmania, Australia. It's part of the City of Clarence area, near the bigger city of Hobart. About 526 people lived here in 2016. Cremorne is found on the South Arm Peninsula, which is a piece of land sticking out into the water, just outside of Hobart. It's about 21 kilometers (about 13 miles) south-east of a town called Rosny Park.
A Look Back in Time
Cremorne became an official place, or "locality," in 1968. Before that, it was known by a different name: Pipe Clay. The name was changed to Cremorne in the same year.
In 2011, a big survey called the 2011 census found something interesting. People living in the Cremorne area had the highest average personal income in all of Tasmania. This means that, on average, people in Cremorne earned more money each week than people in other parts of Tasmania.
Where is Cremorne?
Cremorne is located right next to some beautiful water. The large body of water called Frederick Henry Bay forms the eastern edge of Cremorne. This means it's on the coast.
To the south, most of Cremorne is bordered by Pipe Clay Lagoon. A lagoon is a shallow body of water that is partly separated from a larger body of water.
Getting Around Cremorne
If you want to visit Cremorne, you would likely travel on a main road called Route B33, also known as South Arm Road. This road passes by the south-west side of Cremorne.
From South Arm Road, you can turn onto Cremorne Avenue. This avenue is the main way to get into and around the Cremorne area.
