Astragalus bicristatus is a type of plant called a milkvetch. People often call it the crested milkvetch or two-crested milkvetch. This plant is special because it only grows in southern California. You can find it in the pine and fir forests of the San Gabriel Mountains and San Bernardino Mountains. These mountains are part of a group called the Transverse Ranges.

The crested milkvetch (Astragalus bicristatus) is a plant that lives for many years. It is a type of herb that spreads out along the ground. Its stems can grow up to half a meter long.
Leaves and Stems
The leaves of this plant can be up to 14 centimeters long. They are made of small, thin leaf parts called leaflets. These leaflets are spaced far apart. The stems and leaves have a few grayish hairs. This makes them feel a bit rough if you touch them.
Flowers
The plant produces groups of flowers. Each group can have up to 20 flowers. These flowers look a bit like pea flowers. Each flower is about 1 to 2 centimeters long. Their color can be white with a hint of purple, or a light greenish-yellow.
Fruit
After the flowers, the plant grows a fruit. This fruit hangs down and is shaped like a curve or a crescent moon. It is about 2 to 4 centimeters long. When the fruit is young, it feels soft and fleshy. As it gets older and dries, it becomes tough and woody.
