Creston is a small community in San Luis Obispo County, California. It is located about 10 miles east of Atascadero. Creston is known as a census-designated place. History of Creston
When Was Creston Founded?
Creston was founded in the year 1884. It was named after a person named Calvin J. Cressy. The land where Creston now stands was once part of a large Mexican land grant called Rancho Huerhuero.

For some time, Creston was home to a special place called Creston Farm. This farm was known for boarding many famous retired American thoroughbred racehorses. These horses had finished their racing careers and lived out their retirement here.
