Crossfield is a small town in Alberta, Canada. It is part of the Calgary Metropolitan Region, which is the area around the city of Calgary. Crossfield is surrounded by Rocky View County. You can find it about 43 kilometers (27 miles) north of Calgary on Highway 2A.

Crossfield started as a train station in 1892. It was on the railway line that connected Calgary to Edmonton. The town was named after an engineer who worked on the Canadian Pacific Railway survey team.

By 1904, Crossfield had grown into a small community. It had a post office, a general store, a hotel, and a school. In 1906, the first building for storing grain opened. Crossfield officially became a village in 1907. Later, in 1980, it grew even more and became a town.

Crossfield is part of the Calgary Metropolitan Region Board. This board helps plan for the future of the Calgary area. The town is also located in the Calgary-Edmonton Corridor, which is a busy area between Alberta's two largest cities. Because of this, Crossfield is growing. It is north of the city of Airdrie and south of the town of Olds.
