Crowder is a small town located in Pittsburg County, Oklahoma, in the United States. In 2010, about 430 people lived there. By 2020, the population was recorded as 306.

History of Crowder

When Crowder was first settled, it was part of the Choctaw Nation in what was known as the Indian Territory. This was before Oklahoma became a state. The town was first named Juanita. It got this name from Juanita Harlan Crowder, whose husband, Dr. W.E. Crowder, was a doctor there early on. A post office opened in Juanita on March 21, 1902. Later, on June 4, 1904, the town's name was changed to Crowder to honor Dr. Crowder.
