Crowley is a city in Texas, mostly located in Tarrant County. A small part of the city also reaches into Johnson County. In 2020, the city had a population of 18,070 people. This was a big jump of over 40% from the population in 2010.

The Story of Crowley: How It Began
Around 1848, early settlers started farming near a place called Deer Creek. The community later moved about a mile west. This new spot became downtown Crowley. It happened when the Gulf, Colorado and Santa Fe Railway built train tracks and pens there.
The first train station was built in 1885. The community was named after S. H. Crowley. He was in charge of transportation for the railway.
Becoming a City
On February 3, 1951, the people of Crowley voted to officially become a town. Later, on September 3, 1972, the town council voted again. This time, they decided to change Crowley from a town to a city.
Where is Crowley?
Crowley is located in the southern part of Tarrant County. A small section, about 5.8 acres, extends south into Johnson County. The city covers about 18.8 square kilometers (7.3 square miles) in total. Only a tiny part of this area is water.
Crowley shares its northern and eastern borders with Fort Worth. To the south, it borders Burleson. The very center of Crowley is where two main roads meet: Farm to Market Road 1187 and Farm to Market Road 731.
