Crunch (chocolate bar) facts for kids
Crunch is a yummy chocolate bar that mixes milk chocolate with crispy rice. It's known as Nestlé Crunch in most parts of the world.
Globally, the company Nestlé makes Crunch. However, in the United States, another company called the Ferrara Candy Company makes it. This company is part of Ferrero, which is a big Italian chocolate maker.
History of Crunch
Crunch chocolate bars were first made in 1928. That's a long time ago!
In the United Kingdom, the bar was called Dairy Crunch when it first came out in the 1960s. Later, in the 1990s, its name changed to just Crunch, like in other countries.
In January 2018, Nestlé announced a big change. They decided to sell their candy brands in the U.S. to the Italian company Ferrero. This deal included the rights to make Crunch bars in the U.S. Ferrero then put these candy brands under its Ferrara Candy Company business.
Originally, Crunch bars came wrapped in aluminum foil inside a paper label. This way of packaging took a lot of time. Now, the chocolate bar comes in a single, easier-to-open plastic wrapper. This new wrapper is common for many snack foods today.
Other Crunch Treats
Besides the classic chocolate bar, there are many other fun Crunch products!
- Buncha Crunch are small candy pieces. They are made of milk chocolate mixed with crispy rice. These were first sold only in movie theaters. Now, you can find them in most grocery stores too.
- Crunch White is a candy bar made with yummy white chocolate instead of milk chocolate.
- Crunch Ice Cream Bars have a creamy vanilla ice cream center. This is covered in a milk chocolate coating with crispy rice.
- Crunch with Caramel is a candy bar that has a gooey caramel center. It also has milk chocolate and crispy rice.
- Crunch Stixx are a different kind of Crunch treat. They have crispy wafers and a special "Crunch Candy Creme."
- Crunch Crisp is a full-size candy bar. It is made with wafers and chocolate creme.
- Crunch Cereal is a breakfast cereal. It has chocolate-flavored crispy rice and wheat clusters.
- YoCrunch Yogurt often comes with Crunch pieces. You can mix these pieces into your yogurt. They look a lot like Buncha Crunch.
- Crunchettes are "Bite Size" pieces of the classic Crunch bar.
