Kids Encyclopedia Facts

Crysis is an exciting first-person shooter video game with a science fiction story. In this game, you play as a soldier trying to survive an alien invasion. It was one of the first games to use advanced graphics technology called DirectX 10. The game lets you explore a large island freely. The story begins in 2020 on an island south of China, where a meteor has crashed. Both the North Korean and American armies arrive, but the North Koreans get there first. Soon, both armies discover that the "meteor" is actually an alien spaceship. This discovery leads to a worldwide alien invasion. At the same time, American forces attack the island to take control from the Koreans.

Amazing Game Features

Crysis was known for its cutting-edge graphics and realistic gameplay features. Here are some of the cool things it could do:

  • Realistic Time of Day: The game shows a true day-night cycle, meaning the lighting changes just like in real life.
  • Smart Lighting: The game's engine calculates how much natural light is in indoor areas. This makes the lighting look much better when new light sources or shadows appear.
  • Soft Shadows: Shadows in the game look natural and smooth, not blocky or harsh.
  • Light Beams: You can see realistic light beams, like sunlight shining through the leaves of trees.
  • Long View Distance: You can see very far in the game, up to about 8 kilometers away.
  • Depth in Graphics: This feature makes surfaces look like they have more depth, helping you focus on important things like an explosion.
  • Realistic Ocean: The game creates a very real-looking ocean that moves and reacts to wind and waves.
  • Lifelike Faces: Characters' faces show realistic animations and react to what's happening around them.
  • Motion Blur: When things move very fast in the game, they get a slight blur, just like in movies.
  • Camera-like Depth: This feature makes the game look more like it's being filmed with a real camera.
  • Breakable Buildings: You can destroy almost any building in the game.
  • Destructible Plants: Even the jungles and plants can be damaged by weapons and explosions.
  • Advanced Ropes: Ropes in the game move realistically and can even be affected by rain.
  • Detailed Vehicle Damage: Every part of a car, plane, or boat can be damaged separately.
  • Next-Gen Physics: This system makes the game world feel alive and interactive.

The Story of Crysis

In Crysis, you play as a soldier named Nomad. You are part of a special team sent to an island to find missing people. When you arrive, you discover that North Korean forces have attacked the island. Soon, American forces also attack the island, leading to a big battle.

In the middle of this fighting, something amazing happens: aliens burst out of a mountain! These aliens then create a giant, cold sphere (a ball shape) on the island. The American army tries to destroy it by firing a nuclear missile at the sphere. But instead of being destroyed, the sphere grows even bigger by absorbing the energy from the explosion.

The fight continues, and you eventually face a huge alien on a massive alien ship. Your mission is to stop the alien invasion and save the world.
