Currency sign facts for kids

Kids Encyclopedia Facts

A currency symbol is a small picture or letter used to stand for a country's money. Think of it like a nickname for a currency!

When you write down an amount of money, the symbol can go in different places. For example, in many English-speaking countries and places in Latin America, the symbol comes before the number, like R$50.00 (which means 50 Brazilian Reals). But in many European countries, like France or Germany, the symbol usually goes after the number, like 20.50 €. It just depends on the currency!
