Curtis is a small city in Frontier County, Nebraska, United States. In 2020, about 806 people lived there. It's a friendly community known for its unique traditions and local college.
About Curtis
Curtis calls itself "Nebraska's Easter City." This is because the city puts on a special play every year on Palm Sunday. This play tells the story of Easter.
The city is also home to the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture. This college teaches students practical skills. They learn about farming, veterinary technology, and other hands-on jobs.
History of Curtis
Curtis was founded in 1886. This happened soon after a railroad line reached the area. The city was named after a trapper who used to work in the region.
The local school system is called Medicine Valley Schools. It was created in 1969. The school's name comes from its location in the Medicine Creek Valley.
In 2021, the city started a special program. They offered free land to people who would build a house there. They also gave money to families who enrolled their children in the public school. This program was designed to help the city grow its population.
