Frontier County is a special area in the state of Nebraska, USA. It is like a local government division. In 2020, about 2,519 people lived here. The main town, or county seat, where the county government is located, is Stockville.
When Nebraska started its license plate system in 1922, Frontier County was given the number 60. This was because it had the 60th largest number of vehicles registered. The name "Frontier County" also means it was once on the edge of settled lands. Since about 1950, it has been considered a "frontier county" by the US Census Bureau. This means it has fewer than 6 people living in each square mile.
