D. J. Foster, born on November 22, 1993, is a former American football player. He used to play as a running back. Today, he works at Arizona State University, helping players develop their skills. He played college football there too. In 2016, he joined the New England Patriots. He was part of the team that won Super Bowl LI, even though he didn't play in that specific game.
High School Football Success
D. J. Foster went to Saguaro High School in Scottsdale, Arizona. He was an amazing player there. During his high school career, he ran for over 5,000 yards.
Setting New Records
In his senior year, D. J. set many Arizona state records. He scored 60 total touchdowns in one season. This was a new state record! He also set records for rushing yards in a single game (508 yards). Plus, he scored 10 touchdowns in one game. He helped his team win the Arizona Division III State Championship.
He was named the "Big Schools Player of the Year" by the Arizona Republic in 2011. He also earned the "Tribune Football Player of the Year" award. Experts like Rivals.com thought he was a top player. In 2012, he decided to play college football at Arizona State.

First Year at Arizona State (2012)
In 2012, D. J. played in all 13 games for Arizona State. He scored his first college touchdown against Missouri. He gained over 1,000 yards in total, combining his rushing and receiving yards. He scored six touchdowns that year.
Growing Role (2013)
In 2013, D. J. took on a bigger role. He led the country in receiving yards for a running back. He was second on his team in total receiving yards with 653. He also had 63 catches, which was second-best on the team. He scored 10 touchdowns that season. He had both a rushing and a receiving touchdown in the Pac-12 Championship against Stanford.
Becoming a Star Player (2014)
By 2014, D. J. Foster became the main offensive player for the Sun Devils. He ran for 1,081 yards and scored nine rushing touchdowns. He also caught 62 passes for 688 yards and six receiving touchdowns. This was a fantastic season for him.
Senior Season (2015)
For his senior year in 2015, D. J. announced he would play as a wide receiver. He caught 59 passes for 584 yards and three touchdowns. He also ran for 280 yards and one touchdown.

Professional Football Career
After college, D. J. Foster entered the 2016 NFL draft. He was not chosen by any team during the draft. However, the New England Patriots signed him as a free agent.
New England Patriots (2016–2017)
D. J. Foster made the Patriots' main roster in September 2016. He played his first professional game on September 18, 2016. This was a game against the Miami Dolphins. He was later released and then re-signed to the practice squad. He was promoted back to the active team in December 2016.
The Patriots played in Super Bowl LI on February 5, 2017. D. J. was part of the team, but he did not play in the game. The Patriots made an amazing comeback in that Super Bowl. They were losing 28–3 but won 34–28 against the Atlanta Falcons. This was the first Super Bowl to go into overtime. It was also the biggest comeback in Super Bowl history. D. J. was released by the Patriots in September 2017.
Arizona Cardinals (2017–2020)
On September 12, 2017, the Arizona Cardinals signed D. J. Foster. He played in seven games during the 2017 season. He caught 17 passes for 133 yards.
In August 2018, D. J. suffered a serious knee injury. This injury meant he could not play for the rest of the season. He later dealt with a hamstring injury in 2019. In 2020, he re-signed with the Cardinals. He was moved between the main team and the practice squad. He also had a quadriceps injury that year.
Toronto Argonauts (2021)
On July 19, 2021, D. J. Foster signed with the Toronto Argonauts in the Canadian Football League. He played in 10 regular season games. He ran for 332 yards and scored two rushing touchdowns. He also caught 33 passes for 316 yards and two receiving touchdowns. He played in the East Final game, but his team lost. He was released by the Argonauts in May 2022.
