Da'Sean Butler (born January 25, 1988) is an American professional basketball coach and former player. He is currently an assistant coach for the Boston Celtics in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Butler played college basketball for West Virginia University. The Miami Heat picked him 42nd overall in the 2010 NBA draft.

College Basketball Journey
Freshman Year Success
Da'Sean Butler started his college career strong. He helped the Mountaineers win the NIT Championship. In the final game against Clemson, he scored 20 points. Butler was also named to the Big East all-freshman team. He averaged 10.1 points and 3.5 rebounds per game.
Sophomore Year Highlights
After his freshman year, a new coach, Bob Huggins, joined the Mountaineers. Butler became a starter for the first time. He had his first "double-double" (scoring double digits in two stats, like points and rebounds) this season. He made a game-winning shot against Marshall. The Mountaineers made it to the Sweet 16 in the NCAA Tournament. Butler averaged 12.9 points and 6.2 rebounds per game.
Junior Year Achievements
Butler continued to shine in his junior year. He scored a career-high 43 points in a game against Villanova. This was one of the highest scores ever in the WVU Coliseum. He also reached 1,000 career points during this season. Butler was named to the All-Big East second team. He averaged 19.1 points and 5.9 rebounds per game.
Senior Year and Big Moments
In his senior year, Butler was invited to the USA Basketball team training camp. He hit several game-winning shots for the Mountaineers. He helped them win their first ever Big East tournament title. In the NCAA Tournament, West Virginia upset Kentucky to reach the Final Four.
During the Final Four game against Duke, Butler suffered a serious knee injury. He tore his ACL and sprained his MCL. Despite the injury, he won the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award for men's basketball. He was also a finalist for the John R. Wooden Award, given to the best college player.
Professional Basketball Career
Early Career and Injuries
The Miami Heat drafted Butler 42nd overall in the 2010 NBA draft. After his knee injury, he spent time recovering. He later signed with the San Antonio Spurs and played for their G League team, the Austin Toros. He also played briefly for VEF Rīga in Latvia during the 2011 NBA lockout. More knee surgeries affected his time with the Toros.
Playing in Europe and Israel
Butler then played for several teams overseas.
- Okapi Aalstar (2013–2014): He played for this Belgian team and won the 2013 Belgian Supercup. He was named the Belgian League Forward of the Year.
- Châlons Reims (2014–2015): He played one season for this French team.
- ratiopharm Ulm (2015–2018): Butler spent three seasons with this German team. He helped them reach the 2016 BBL Finals.
- Hapoel Jerusalem (2018–2019): He signed a two-year deal with this Israeli team and won the 2019 Israeli State Cup.
- Hapoel Be'er Sheva (2019–2020): He played his final professional season with this Israeli team.
Coaching Career
