Dai Tielang (Chinese: 戴铁郎) was a famous Chinese animator. He was born in Singapore on October 17, 1930. He became well-known for directing the popular animated series Black Cat Detective. Dai Tielang passed away on September 4, 2019.

His Early Life and Training
Dai Tielang was born in Singapore in 1930. When he was about 10 years old, in 1940, his family moved to China. He loved art and decided to study it.
In 1953, he graduated from the Beijing Film Academy. This school taught him how to make movies. After finishing his studies, he started working at the Shanghai Animation Film Studio. This studio is famous for making many classic Chinese cartoons.
Dai Tielang's father, Dai Langying, was also an artist. He was a painter from a place called Huiyang. He worked in Singapore during the 1930s.
