Dalfsen is a town and a group of villages (called a municipality) in the Netherlands. It's located in the Overijssel province, within a region known as Salland. The name Dalfsen is pronounced something like "DAL-fsen". Some people in Dalfsen also speak a local language called Dutch Low Saxon, or "Dalsen". On January 1, 2001, the area of Dalfsen became bigger. This happened when the nearby towns of Nieuwleusen and Dalfsen joined together.

History of Dalfsen
The name Dalfsen was first written down in documents in the year 1231. Dalfsen is near a castle called Kasteel Rechteren. Because of this, Dalfsen never officially became a "city." Many towns along the Vecht river in Overijssel also did not get city rights.
Ancient Discoveries in Dalfsen
In 2015, archaeologists made an exciting discovery in Dalfsen. They found an ancient burial ground. This burial ground was from a time called the TRB-period, which was about 3000 to 2750 BC. That's over 5,000 years ago! They found 141 burial pits. The TRB period is famous for its huge stone monuments, like megaliths, found in northern Europe.
