Dalton Grant (born 8 April 1966) is a former British athlete. He was a very successful high jumper. He competed for Great Britain and England in many major athletics events.

Dalton Grant's Athletics Career
Dalton Grant was a top high jumper. He won four national titles in Great Britain. His best outdoor jump was 2.36 meters. He achieved this at the 1991 World Championships in Tokyo. His best indoor jump was even higher, at 2.37 meters.
Competing in the Commonwealth Games
Dalton Grant took part in five Commonwealth Games in a row. He first represented England in 1986 in Edinburgh. Four years later, he won a silver medal in Auckland, New Zealand. He competed again in 1994 in Victoria, Canada.
His biggest win came at the 1998 Games in Kuala Lumpur. There, he proudly won a gold medal in the high jump. He also competed in his fifth and final Commonwealth Games in 2002.

Dalton Grant also represented Great Britain in the Olympic Games and World Championships. He competed in the Olympics in 1988, 1992, and 1996. He reached the finals in several World and European Championships. He won a silver medal at the 1989 European Athletics Indoor Championships and a gold medal at the 1994 European Athletics Indoor Championships. He also earned another silver at the 1998 European Athletics Championships.

Dalton Grant was born in Hackney, London. His parents came from Jamaica. He grew up in Upper Clapton. He went to Hackney Downs School. This is where he first started high jumping. He also represented Hackney in the London Youth Games.
In 2011, he was honored for his achievements. He was inducted into the London Youth Games Hall of Fame.
Dalton Grant's Work Outside of Sports
After his jumping career, Dalton Grant stayed involved in sports. He was a board director for the London 2012 Olympic bid team. This team helped London win the chance to host the Olympic Games. He also served as a captain for the Great Britain & NI athletics team.
He was the president of the South of England Athletics Association from 2010 to 2011. Dalton has also created the Dalton Grant Academy. This academy helps young athletes in Trinidad and Tobago. He is also a supporter of Mossbourne Academy.
