Daniel W. "Hodge" Hodgson was a Canadian ice hockey player. He was born on August 29, 1965. Daniel is also of Cree heritage. He played as a centre in professional ice hockey for many years. He played in the National Hockey League (NHL) for two teams: the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Vancouver Canucks. After his time in the NHL, he moved to Switzerland and played there until he retired in 2005.

Daniel Hodgson's Hockey Journey
Early Years and Junior Hockey
Daniel Hodgson started his hockey career in junior leagues. He played for the Cowichan Valley Capitals in the BCHL. He was a very good scorer, getting 96 points in one season and 120 points in another.
Later, he joined the Prince Albert Raiders in the WHL. He was an amazing player there too. In the 1983-84 season, he scored 62 goals and had 119 assists, totaling 181 points! The next season, he had 70 goals and 112 assists for 182 points.
In 1985, Daniel helped the Prince Albert Raiders win the Memorial Cup. This is a very important championship for junior hockey teams in Canada. He was a key player in their victory.
Playing in the NHL
Daniel Hodgson was drafted by the Toronto Maple Leafs in 1983. He was the 83rd player picked overall. He started playing in the NHL in the 1985-86 season. He played 40 games for the Maple Leafs that year.
Later, he also played for the Vancouver Canucks. In total, Daniel played 114 games in the NHL. He scored 29 goals and had 45 assists, adding up to 74 points in his NHL career.
Life in Switzerland
After his time in the NHL, Daniel moved to Switzerland in 1994. He played in the top Swiss league, called the Nationalliga A. He played for several teams there, including HC Fribourg-Gottéron, HC Davos, ZSC Lions, and EHC Basel.
He had a long and successful career in Switzerland. He played until 2005, which means he played professional hockey for 20 years! He was a strong player in the Swiss league, scoring many goals and assists.
International Play
Daniel also represented his country, Canada, in junior hockey tournaments. He played in the World Junior Ice Hockey Championships twice. He played in 1984 and 1985, helping Canada compete against other top junior teams from around the world.
