Dani's Music Journey
Dani Dimitrovska began her singing career at the Makfest music contest in Štip. Her first song, "Samo Ti Mi Trebaš," was very popular with both fans and music critics. In 2000, she took part in the national competition to represent North Macedonia at the Eurovision Song Contest with her song "A Nekogaš."
That same year, Dani welcomed her son, Lazar. She later took a break from music to focus on raising him. Her big return to music was with the song "Srca Dve" (which means "Two Hearts"). This song became a huge hit, reaching number one on all Macedonian music charts for a whole month. It also made it to number 4 on MTV Adria, making Dani the first Macedonian singer to reach the Top 20 chart there.
New Sounds: Ethno-Jazz
In 2021, Dani Dimitrovska started exploring a new style called ethno-jazz. She worked with Micevski and other singers to create acoustic versions of famous Macedonian songs. These included "Karanfilo filfilo mome," "Belo Lice Ljubam Jas," and "Dejgidi, ludi mladi godini." These new versions were very well-liked by her audience.
On May 31, 2022, Dani released a new song called "Begame." She collaborated with Branislav Nikolov, also known as Pijan Slavej. The song was written by Vesna Malinova. A music video for "Begame" was released on the same day. In the video, Dani's son, Lazar, played one of the main characters. Dani shared that "Begame" is about how people sometimes feel distant from each other in today's world.
Dani's Activism
Dani Dimitrovska is also known for her work helping others. On March 30, 2010, she traveled to Dubai in the United Arab Emirates. She was an ambassador for the UNFPA campaign, which works to fight against AIDS among young people. Dani served as a regional ambassador for this cause for four years. She was even invited to be part of a documentary movie about the topic, filmed in Sudan.
On April 23, 2015, Dani worked on a song called "Let's Dream" for UNFPA Palestine. This song was created to promote peace. She collaborated with artists from Egypt and Palestine on this special project.
