Before he became a preacher, Daniel Gaddie worked as a blacksmith. This job made him very strong. People even said he was like "Ajax in bravery" and "a Hercules in strength."

A Powerful Preacher and Leader

In 1865, Daniel Gaddie became an ordained minister. This means he was officially recognized as a pastor. He served as a pastor in several cities in Kentucky. In October 1872, he became the pastor of Glendale and Green Street Baptist churches. He led the Green Street church until 1911.

In this role, he became a very important leader among Baptists in Kentucky. He also became a key figure for African Americans in the state. He played a big part in the Kentucky Colored Education Convention in 1869. This meeting worked to improve education for Black children.

Speaking Up for Justice
