Daniel Christmas (born September 10, 1956) is a respected leader from the Mi’kmaw First Nation of Membertou in Nova Scotia, Canada. He served as a Canadian Senator, representing Nova Scotia, from 2016 until 2023. Before becoming a Senator, Mr. Christmas played a key role in helping his community, Membertou, become very successful. He was also a director for the Union of Nova Scotia Indians, which helps Mi'kmaw communities.

A Senator is a person who works in the Senate, which is part of Canada's Parliament. Senators review and approve laws that have been passed by the other part of Parliament, the House of Commons. They also represent different regions and groups of people across Canada.
Daniel Christmas's Time in the Senate
On October 27, 2016, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau chose Daniel Christmas to become a Senator. He was appointed as an independent Senator, meaning he did not belong to a specific political party in the Senate. At the time of his appointment, he was an advisor to the Membertou First Nation. Senator Christmas retired from the Senate on January 31, 2023.
