Daniel Chapin Kinsey (born January 22, 1902 – died June 27, 1970) was an American athlete. He was famous for running in hurdle races. He also became a teacher and expert in physical education.

Early Life and Education
Daniel Kinsey was born in St. Louis, Missouri. He went to the University of Illinois. There, he studied education, which means he learned how to become a teacher.
Olympic Gold Medalist
In 1924, Daniel Kinsey competed in the 1924 Summer Olympics in Paris, France. He was a hurdler, which means he ran races where he had to jump over barriers called hurdles. Kinsey won the gold medal in the 110-meter hurdles event. This was a huge achievement for him and for the United States.
A Career in Education
After graduating from the University of Illinois in 1926, Daniel Kinsey continued his studies. He focused on physical education at Oberlin College. He also started working there. Kinsey taught students and coached several sports teams. He worked at Oberlin College until 1959.
Besides teaching and coaching, Kinsey was involved in many important groups. He was part of committees and associations, like the American Olympians Association. This group helps former Olympic athletes.
Later Life and Retirement
In 1959, Daniel Kinsey left Oberlin College. He became a professor at Earlham College and later at Delta College. He taught students about physical education for many more years.
Kinsey retired in 1967. He continued to live in Richmond, Indiana. Sadly, he passed away in 1970 at the age of 68. He was visiting family on vacation when he died.
