Daniel James Platzman (born September 28, 1986) is an American musician, songwriter, and producer. He is best known as the former drummer for the popular pop rock band Imagine Dragons.

Early Life and Music Studies
Daniel Platzman was born on September 28, 1986, in Atlanta, Georgia. He went to the Berklee College of Music. There, he studied how to compose music for movies.
While at Berklee, Daniel played in several jazz orchestras. He also won awards for his amazing musical skills. He even played in a guitar group with Wayne Sermon and Ben McKee. They would later become his bandmates in Imagine Dragons.
Music Career with Imagine Dragons
Joining Imagine Dragons
In 2011, Wayne Sermon asked Daniel to join Imagine Dragons. The band was based in Las Vegas. Ben McKee also left college to join. Daniel became the drummer, completing the band's lineup.
The band quickly became popular in Las Vegas. They won awards like "Best CD of 2011." In November 2011, they signed with Interscope Records. They started working with producer Alex da Kid.
Big Success with Night Visions
In 2012, Imagine Dragons released their first album, Night Visions. This album made them famous worldwide. It reached number 2 on the Billboard 200 chart. It also won a Billboard Music Award for Best Rock Album in 2014.
Their song "It's Time" was a big hit. It reached number 15 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Another song, "Radioactive", was even bigger. It reached number 3 and became one of the best-selling rock songs ever. "Demons" also became a multi-platinum hit.
Night Visions was the highest-debuting rock album in six years. "Radioactive" stayed at the top of the Billboard Hot Rock Songs chart for 23 weeks. This set a new record! The album's songs topped many rock and pop charts. "Radioactive" also won a Grammy Award for Best Rock Performance.
More Albums and Movie Songs
In 2015, Imagine Dragons released their second album, Smoke + Mirrors. This album reached number 1 in the U.S., UK, and Canada. It included popular songs like "I Bet My Life" and "Shots".
The band also wrote songs for movies. These include "Ready Aim Fire" for Iron Man 3 and "Who We Are" for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. They also made "Battle Cry" for Transformers: Age of Extinction. In 2014, they released "Warriors" for the League of Legends video game championships.
Daniel Platzman was featured on the cover of Drum! magazine in 2015.
Solo Music and Leaving the Band
On March 3, 2023, Daniel Platzman released his first song as a solo artist. It was called "Show Me That You Want Me." He also released a music video for it.
