Dante Lamar Cunningham (born April 22, 1987) is an American professional basketball player. He plays as a power forward or small forward. Dante played college basketball for Villanova University. After college, he was chosen by the Portland Trail Blazers in the 2009 NBA draft.

Early Life and High School Basketball
Dante Cunningham was born in Clinton, Maryland. His parents are Searcy Blankenship and Ron Cunningham. Dante has an older sister named Davalyn. She also played professional basketball in the WNBA.
High School Success
Dante started his high school basketball career at St. John's College High School in Washington, D.C.. In his junior year, he scored about 10 points per game. He also grabbed 7.4 rebounds per game. One of his teammates there, Dwayne Anderson, later played with him at Villanova.
For his senior year, Dante moved to Potomac High School. He helped lead his team to an amazing 27–0 undefeated season. During this year, he averaged 20 points, 13 rebounds, and four blocked shots per game. Because of his great performance, he was named The Washington Post Metropolitan Player of the Year.
College Career at Villanova

Dante Cunningham played college basketball for Villanova University. In his first year, called his freshman year (2005–06), he played in all 33 games. He started four of those games.
During his senior year (2008–09), Dante was a key player for Villanova. He led the team in scoring, averaging 16.1 points per game. He also won the Big East Most Improved Player award. Dante helped the Wildcats reach the Final Four in the NCAA Tournament. This was their first time since 1985. He was also named to the 2008–2009 All Big East second team.

Dante Cunningham has played for many teams in his professional career. He started in the NBA and later played internationally.
Portland Trail Blazers (2009–2011)
The Portland Trail Blazers picked Dante as the 33rd player in the 2009 NBA draft. He played well for their Summer League team. He averaged over 18 points and 5 rebounds in four games. In August 2009, he signed his first contract with the Trail Blazers.
Charlotte Bobcats (2011)
In February 2011, Dante was traded to the Charlotte Bobcats. This trade involved several players and future draft picks.
Memphis Grizzlies (2011–2012)
In December 2011, the Memphis Grizzlies offered Dante a three-year contract. The Bobcats decided not to match the offer. So, Dante signed with the Grizzlies.
Minnesota Timberwolves (2012–2014)
In July 2012, Dante was traded again. This time, he went to the Minnesota Timberwolves. He played for them for two seasons.
New Orleans Pelicans (2014–2018)
Dante signed with the New Orleans Pelicans in December 2014. He re-signed with them twice, staying with the team for several years.
Brooklyn Nets (2018)
In February 2018, Dante was traded to the Brooklyn Nets. He played for them for a short period.
San Antonio Spurs (2018–2019)
Dante signed with the San Antonio Spurs in July 2018. He played one season with this famous team.
Fujian Sturgeons (2019–2020)
In December 2019, Dante joined the Fujian Sturgeons in China. In his first game, he scored 14 points and grabbed 8 rebounds. He averaged 15 points and 7 rebounds per game during his time there.
Cangrejeros de Santurce (2021)
In July 2021, Dante signed with the Cangrejeros de Santurce in Puerto Rico. He played 10 games, averaging 11.5 points and 6.1 rebounds.
Le Mans Sarthe Basket (2021–2022)
Dante then moved to France in August 2021. He signed with Le Mans Sarthe Basket in the French league.
Changwon LG Sakers (2022–2024)
From 2022 to 2024, Dante played for the Changwon LG Sakers in South Korea.
Personal Life
Dante Cunningham was considered for the Great Britain team in 2008. This was for the Eurobasket 2009 qualifying matches. However, he was later found not eligible to play for Britain. Officials could not confirm his family ties to the UK.
