Darold Williamson, born on February 19, 1983, is a retired American track and field athlete. He is famous for being part of the United States' gold medal-winning 4x400 meter relay team at the 2004 Summer Olympics. He ran the final part of that race, which is called the "anchor leg."

Early Life and Education

Darold Williamson was born in San Antonio, Texas in 1983. He went to Business Careers High School in San Antonio and graduated in 2001.

Williamson was part of the foster care program in Texas. He also participated in a program called "Preparation for Adult Living" (PAL). This program helps young people get ready for life as adults. Later, he graduated from Baylor University in Waco, Texas in 2005.

Sports Achievements

Darold Williamson is a very successful runner. He competed in the 2004 Summer Olympics held in Athens, Greece.

Olympic Gold Medal

At the 2004 Olympics, Williamson was a key member of the United States' 4x400 meter relay team. He ran the "anchor leg," which is the last part of the race. His team won the gold medal, making them Olympic champions!

World Championships

After the Olympics, Williamson continued to achieve great success. He won two more gold medals at the World Championships in Athletics.
