Early Running Days

Darrel Brown started his running career with a bang! He won the Austin Sealy Trophy twice. This award is given to the best athlete at the CARIFTA Games. He earned it in 1999 and 2000. Darrel was the first runner to win both the 100 and 200 metres races two years in a row.

When he moved up to the "junior" age group in 2001, Darrel kept winning. He won the 100 metres race for three years in a row, from 2001 to 2003. This was another first for any athlete!

World Youth and Junior Championships

On April 14, 2001, he set a new world record for youth athletes in the 100 metres, running it in just 10.24 seconds.
