Darrell Henegan, born on June 27, 1961, is a Canadian former athlete. He was a talented competitor in both taekwondo and kickboxing. He was born in the United States but became a Canadian citizen.

Darrell's Taekwondo Journey

Darrell Henegan's taekwondo career lasted for many years, from 1979 to 2001. During this time, he earned many awards. He won championships in Canada, the Pan American Games, and North American events. A big moment was winning the 1981 World Taekwondo Games in Santa Clara, California. At this event, he made history. He was the first person from North America to defeat a Korean opponent in a World Championship Gold Medal match.

Becoming a Kickboxing Champion

Darrell also became a professional kickboxer. He competed from 1984 to 1996. His kickboxing record was very impressive. He won 25 matches and only lost 2. Out of his 25 wins, 20 were by knockout (KO). This means he won by hitting his opponent so hard they couldn't continue.

He earned several important titles during his kickboxing career. He became a world champion two times!

  • In 1988, he won the FFKA Heavyweight Title. He won this by beating Jerry Rhome.
  • In 1993, he won the ISKA Cruiserweight Championship. He earned this title by defeating Przemyslaw Saletta.

Darrell had one loss in 1990 to another champion, Dennis Alexio. He also tried professional boxing once in 1986. In that match, he won against Daniel DesRoches.
