Darryl Jones (born December 11, 1961) is a famous American bassist. He has played bass for many top artists. Since 1993, he has been touring and recording with the Rolling Stones. He has also played with music legends like Miles Davis and Sting.

His Musical Journey
Early Life and Learning Music
Darryl Jones was born in Chicago, Illinois. This was on December 11, 1961. His dad was a drummer. His mom loved listening to soul music.
When Darryl was seven, his dad taught him drums. He also learned to play the xylophone. At age nine, he saw his neighbor, Angus Thomas, playing bass. This inspired Darryl to switch to the bass guitar.
He started learning from Angus. Within a year, he played with his brother. They performed at their school talent show. His mom often drove him to his gigs. After high school, Darryl started playing music in Chicago. He played with other local musicians.
Playing with Famous Artists
In 1985, Darryl joined Sting's first solo band. They recorded two albums together. These were Dream of the Blue Turtles and Bring On the Night. He also appeared in a documentary about the band.
In 1993, Darryl tried out for the Rolling Stones. Their longtime bassist, Bill Wyman, had retired. Darryl got the job! He started touring with them in 1994. He has been playing with the band ever since. He records albums and tours the world with them.
Darryl is also working on a documentary about his life. It is being made with Eric Hamburg.
