Davetta Sherwood (born January 27, 1984) is an American actress and musician. She first worked as a child model. Later, she started acting in music videos and TV shows. Her big acting role was on the Emmy award-winning TV show The Young and the Restless. This role earned her a nomination for an NAACP Image Award. In 2008, she started her own production company called 5 Foot Nuthin Productions.

Davetta Sherwood's Life and Career

Early Life and Education

Davetta Sherwood was born in Mount Vernon, New York. She grew up in a religious family. When she was young, her parents divorced. Davetta started acting at age seven. She performed in many school plays. These included A Raisin in the Sun, The Wizard of Oz, and Annie.

At age 8, Davetta and her mom moved to Maryland. Davetta showed a lot of interest in acting. Her mom noticed this and became her "momager." They later moved to Inland Empire, California. Davetta went to Pershing Middle School and Valley View High School. She also attended a special summer program at Northfield Mount Hermon School.

In 2002, Davetta joined a program at University of California, Riverside. This allowed her to finish high school and start college at the same time. She did not finish college, but she continued her acting career.

Acting Journey

Davetta Sherwood began her career as a child model. She modeled for companies like Sears. When she was 15, she wrote, cast, directed, and produced her own show. It was called Davetta Sherwood's First Annual Variety Art show. This charity event raised a lot of money for her high school. It helped fund new art and stage equipment.

Davetta then started taking acting lessons. She got a guest role on the TV show My Wife and Kids. In 2003, she was cast in the series Platinum. She played Jade Rhames, a strong character. The show was about two brothers who ran a hip hop record label. It only aired six episodes before being canceled.

Also in 2003, Davetta guest starred on Boston Public. She played Dina Fallow in that show. In 2005, she appeared in two movies. She was Tosha Cooper in Back in the Day. In 2006, Davetta was cast as Lily Winters on The Young and the Restless. This was a very popular soap opera. Later that year, the role was given back to the original actress. In 2007, Davetta performed in the play The Divorce. She also starred in another play called Pleasantville. Both plays were written by her friend Chris Mykel Dabney. In 2008, Davetta starred in the independent film A Talent for Trouble. She played the character Jessica.

Davetta started her own production company in 2008. It is called 5 Foot Nuthin Productions. This company works on TV shows and films. Davetta is also writing, producing, and directing her own play. It is called Exactly Different. Other projects she has worked on include The Yes We Will Project and Bounce.

In 2013, she starred in the film Boiling Pot. This movie is based on real events about racism on college campuses. Davetta played Rose Torrance, the president of the Black Student Union. Her character tries to fight against racist events at her school. The film was released in 2014.

Davetta Sherwood has appeared in several music videos. She was in Vitamin C's video "Graduation (Friends Forever)". Vitamin C chose her because she reminded her of her best friend.
