Davetta Sherwood, born on January 27, 1984, is an American actress and musician. She started her career as a child model. Later, she began acting in music videos and TV shows. Her big role was on the TV show The Young and the Restless. This role earned her a nomination for an NAACP Image Award. In 2008, she started her own company, 5 Foot Nuthin Productions.

Early Life and Education
Davetta Sherwood was born in Mount Vernon, New York. She grew up in a religious family. Her parents divorced when she was young. Davetta started acting at age seven. She performed in many school plays. These included A Raisin in the Sun and The Wizard of Oz.
When she was eight, Davetta and her mom moved to Maryland. Her mom noticed Davetta's interest in acting. They later moved to Inland Empire, California, to help her career. Davetta attended Pershing Middle School and Valley View High School. She also went to a special summer program at Northfield Mount Hermon School.
In 2002, Davetta joined a program at University of California, Riverside. This allowed her to finish high school and start college at the same time. She did not complete her college degree.
Acting Career Highlights
Davetta Sherwood began her career as a child model. She modeled for companies like Sears. At age 15, she created and directed her own charity event. It was called Davetta Sherwood's First Annual Variety Art show. This event raised a lot of money for new art and stage equipment at her high school.
Early TV Roles
Davetta took acting lessons and soon got a guest role on the TV show My Wife and Kids. In 2003, she joined the TV series Platinum. She played Jade Rhames, a strong character. The show was about two brothers who ran a hip hop music company. It only aired six episodes.
Also in 2003, Davetta appeared on Boston Public. She played Dina Fallow in that show. In 2005, she was in two movies. She played Tosha Cooper in Back in the Day. She also appeared as Patty in the film Venom. Later, she guest starred on The Bernie Mac Show as Sherri.
Breakthrough on The Young and the Restless
In 2006, Davetta was cast as Lily Winters on the popular show The Young and the Restless. This was a big role for her. However, later that year, the role of Lily went back to the original actress, Christel Khalil. Davetta was nominated for an NAACP Image Award in 2007. This was for "Outstanding Actress in a Daytime Drama Series" for her work on the show.
Stage and Film Projects
In 2007, Davetta performed in two plays. These were The Divorce and Pleasantville. Both plays were written by her friend Chris Mykel Dabney. In 2008, Davetta starred in the film A Talent for Trouble as Jessica.
She also started her own company, 5 Foot Nuthin Productions. This company works on TV shows and films. Davetta is also writing and directing her own play, Exactly Different. Other projects she has worked on include The Yes We Will Project and Bounce.
In 2013, Davetta starred in the movie Boiling Pot. This film is based on real events about racism on college campuses. Davetta played Rose Torrance, the leader of the Black Student Union. Her character tries to fight against racist events at her school. The movie was released in 2015.
Music Career
Davetta Sherwood has appeared in several music videos. She was in Vitamin C's video "Graduation (Friends Forever)". Vitamin C chose her because she reminded her of a best friend. Davetta was also in Bow Wow's video My Baby. She played his love interest, Kim. She also appeared in Lil J's video It's the Weekend.
Davetta has shared that she plans to record her own music. She writes her own song lyrics from her poetry book. Her music will have soul and alternative styles. She is also writing songs for her play Exactly Different.
Personal Life
Davetta enjoys different types of music. She likes indie rock, old school hip hop, and neo soul. She has said that the band Hot Hot Heat is her favorite indie rock group. Davetta is good friends with other actresses. These include Monique Coleman and Erica Hubbard.
As of 2013, Davetta has been raising her nephew, Bryce. He was two years old at the time.
