Adrienne Monique Coleman (born November 13, 1980) is an American actress and dancer. She is best known for playing Taylor McKessie in the super popular High School Musical movies.

Early Life and Education

Monique Coleman was born in Orangeburg, South Carolina. She started acting in plays and on TV when she was very young. This was in Columbia, South Carolina. Today, she lives in Los Angeles. She learned acting at the Workshop Theater School of Dramatic Arts. There, she performed in more than 15 plays!

Monique went to Heathwood Hall Episcopal School. Later, she studied at The Theater School at DePaul University in Chicago. She earned her degree in Acting in 2002.

Monique's Acting Career

Monique's first main role was in a movie called Mother of the River (1995). Two years later, she appeared in The Ditchdigger's Daughter. For this role, she was nominated for a Young Artists Award. When she was in high school, Monique even wrote, directed, produced, and starred in her own play!

In 2005, Monique acted with the famous James Earl Jones in a TV movie called The Reading Room. She won an award for this role in 2006. She also appeared in many other TV shows. These include Boston Public, Gilmore Girls, Malcolm in the Middle, and Veronica Mars.

In 2006, Monique became a big star in High School Musical. She played Taylor McKessie. Taylor was the smart best friend of Gabriella Montez, played by Vanessa Hudgens. Before this, Monique was also a guest star on the Disney Channel show The Suite Life of Zack & Cody.

In 2006, Monique joined the first Disney Channel Games. She also hosted a show called 3 Minute Game Show: High School Musical Edition. This show aired on the Disney Channel in 2007. That same year, she sang "Christmas Vacation" for a holiday music album. She then returned as Taylor McKessie in High School Musical 2 (2007) and High School Musical 3: Senior Year (2008).

Dancing with the Stars Competition

In Fall 2006, Monique competed on the TV show Dancing with the Stars. She danced with professional partner Louis van Amstel. They were on The Ellen DeGeneres Show before leaving the competition. Monique and Louis finished in fourth place. She was the last female dancer left in that season.
