Early Life and Career Start
David Barrufet started playing handball when he was just 8 years old. He played at the SAFA Horta school in Barcelona. Six years later, when he was 14, he joined the famous F.C. Barcelona club. He played in their younger teams until 1988. That year, he joined the professional F.C. Barcelona team.
A Legendary Career
David Barrufet spent his entire professional career with F.C. Barcelona Handbol. He became known as one of the best handball goalkeepers in the world. He played for the club until the end of the 2009-10 season.
On February 8, 2010, Barrufet announced he would retire from handball. To honor his amazing career, F.C. Barcelona decided to retire his shirt number 16. This means no other player at the club will wear that number.
