David Paul Boreanaz (born May 16, 1969) is an American actor, producer, and director. He is famous for playing the vampire Angel in the TV shows Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel. He also starred as FBI agent Seeley Booth in the crime show Bones. More recently, he played Navy SEAL leader Jason Hayes in the series SEAL Team.

Early life and education
David Paul Boreanaz was born in Buffalo, New York. His father, Dave Roberts, was a TV weather reporter and hosted a children's show. His mother, Patti Boreanaz, was a travel agent. David has two older sisters. His family has Italian, Slovene, Slovak, Irish, German, French, and Swiss roots.
When David was seven, his family moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He grew up Catholic and went to Rosemont School of the Holy Child. Later, he attended Malvern Preparatory School, where he was a good athlete and played on the school football team. In 1991, he graduated from Ithaca College with a degree in cinema and photography.
Acting career
Getting started in Hollywood
After college, Boreanaz moved to Los Angeles to start a career in movies. At first, it was hard to find acting jobs. He worked as a production assistant to learn about the film industry. He even had a small, uncredited part as an extra in the 1993 movie Aspen Extreme.
His first paid acting role was a guest spot on the sitcom Married... with Children in 1993. He played the boyfriend of the character Kelly Bundy.
Breakthrough with Buffy and Angel
Boreanaz became famous when he was cast in the TV series Buffy the Vampire Slayer. A neighbor recommended him for the part after seeing him walk his dog. In the show, he played Angel, a vampire who was given a soul to make him feel sorry for his past.
The show was a huge hit. Boreanaz's character was so popular that he got his own spin-off series, Angel. This show focused on Angel's journey to find redemption. He starred in Angel from 1999 to 2004, while also making guest appearances on Buffy.
Success with Bones
In 2005, Boreanaz began starring in the TV series Bones with actress Emily Deschanel. He played Seeley Booth, a smart FBI agent who solves murders. The show was very successful and ran for 12 seasons, until 2017. Besides acting, Boreanaz also worked as a producer on Bones and directed several episodes.
Starring in SEAL Team
In 2017, Boreanaz took on the lead role in the CBS drama SEAL Team. He played Jason Hayes, the respected leader of a Navy SEAL unit. The show follows the team as they go on dangerous missions around the world. Boreanaz was also a producer and director for the series, which ended in 2024.
Other work
Boreanaz has also appeared in movies and provided his voice for animated projects. He starred in the 2001 horror film Valentine. He was the voice of Leon in the popular video game Kingdom Hearts. He also voiced the superhero Hal Jordan / Green Lantern in the animated movie Justice League: The New Frontier.
Personal life
David Boreanaz was married to Ingrid Quinn from 1997 to 1999. In 2001, he married actress and model Jaime Bergman. They have two children: a son named Jaden and a daughter named Bella.
In 2004, Boreanaz had surgery on his knee because of an old injury from high school. His recovery limited his movement in some episodes of Angel, including the first one he directed.
Boreanaz and his wife started a nail polish brand called Chrome Girl in 2013 with some friends. He is also a big hockey fan and supports the Philadelphia Flyers and Philadelphia Eagles.
