Early Life and Education

David Andrew Farrier was born in Tauranga, New Zealand, on December 25, 1982. He grew up in the Bethlehem area of Tauranga. He was taught at home for some time before going to Bethlehem College, which is a Christian school.

Journalism and Documentaries

David Farrier started his career in journalism at 3 News. From 2006 to 2013, he was the entertainment reporter for the TV show Nightline. In 2011, he made a short documentary for TV3. This film was about the history of "God Defend New Zealand", which is one of New Zealand's national anthems.

In 2014, David acted in the comedy series Short Poppies. He played a funny version of himself in the show.

Exploring Unique Stories

In 2014, David began working on a documentary film called Tickled with Dylan Reeve. The film looks into a strange world of "competitive endurance tickling" videos. It also explores some of the problems and challenges that came with making these videos. The film was first shown in January 2016 at the Sundance Film Festival and later on HBO. In 2017, David made a short follow-up film called The Tickle King, which included new scenes.

In 2015, David became a co-host of the TV3 show Newsworthy with reporter Sam Hayes. The show was on air for one year.

David often writes articles for The Spinoff, a New Zealand website. He writes about many different topics, including interesting online trends, how the media works, and different parts of culture.

Mister Organ Documentary

In 2016, David Farrier looked into the actions of a person named Michael Organ. This person was known for strict rules about parking at an antique shop in Auckland. David wrote a story about this for The Spinoff. Later, David made a documentary film about it called Mister Organ, which was released in November 2022.

After the antique shop closed, David took a broken sign from the store. Michael Organ later tried to get the sign back from David. Because the sign went missing, David had to pay some money to Michael Organ.
