David Giuntoli (born June 18, 1980) is an American actor. He is best known for playing Detective Nick Burkhardt in the TV show Grimm. This supernatural drama aired on NBC from 2011 to 2017. He also played Eddie Saville in the ABC drama series A Million Little Things from 2018 to 2023. David has also appeared in movies like 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi (2016) and Buddymoon (2016).

David Giuntoli's Early Life
David Giuntoli was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. His parents are Mary and David Giuntoli. His father has Italian roots. His mother has Polish and German family history. He grew up in Huntleigh, a town near St. Louis, Missouri.
David has said he was not very athletic as a boy. He became interested in acting during high school. After finishing St. Louis University High School in 1998, he went to Indiana University. In 2002, he earned a degree in International Business and Finance.
After college, David returned to St. Louis. But he really wanted to be an entertainer. His family knew this because he loved making people laugh from a young age. He started taking acting lessons in his hometown. He reconnected with his high school theater teacher to help him.
David Giuntoli's Acting Career
David's acting career began in 2003. Talent scouts from MTV found him. He was cast in the reality TV show Road Rules. He joined the South Pacific season. This adventure lasted three months. He also appeared on Real World/Road Rules Challenge. These shows helped him pay off his college debt. They also made him sure he wanted to be an actor.
In 2007, David moved to Los Angeles. He wanted to focus more on acting. He studied with acting teacher Chris Fields. He also joined the Echo Theater Company. After that, he made many guest appearances on TV shows. These included Nip/Tuck, Veronica Mars, and Grey's Anatomy. He also appeared in Ghost Whisperer, Privileged, and Cold Case. David was even considered for the main role in the Superman movie Man of Steel. However, Henry Cavill got the part.
His first main role on a TV series was in Grimm. The show started in October 2011. It ran for six seasons and 123 episodes. The final episode aired on March 31, 2017. David played the lead character, Nick Burkhardt. Nick was a detective in Portland with special supernatural powers. While working on Grimm, David also appeared in the movie Caroline and Jackie in 2012. He played Scott Wickland, a DS agent, in 13 Hours. This movie was directed by Michael Bay. In 2016, he starred in the comedy film Buddymoon. David also helped create this movie with Flula Borg and Alex Simmons.
He later starred in the ABC series A Million Little Things. This show aired for five seasons, from 2018 to 2023.
David Giuntoli's Personal Life
David often rode his bicycle to the set of Grimm. In 2017, David Giuntoli married his Grimm co-star Elizabeth Tulloch. They announced they were expecting their first child in 2018. In January 2020, their family moved to Washington. This move brought them closer to family and their work in Vancouver.
