David Greenwalt (born October 16, 1949) is an American writer, director, and producer for television and movies. He is known for creating exciting supernatural and fantasy shows.

He helped create the popular TV series Buffy the Vampire Slayer and its spin-off show, Angel. He also co-created the unique TV show Profit. Later, he helped create the NBC supernatural drama Grimm, which was also very popular.

David Greenwalt's Early Life and Education

David Greenwalt was born and grew up in West Los Angeles, California. He went to several colleges, including Los Angeles City College and California State University, Northridge. He earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Redlands. His studies focused on drama, English, and education.

The Vampire Detective Show Moonlight

In 2007, David Greenwalt was set to be an executive producer and showrunner for a new vampire detective show called Moonlight. However, he had to leave the show before it started due to health reasons.
