David Ronald Pipe (born 5 November 1983) is a Welsh former professional footballer. He played as a midfielder or full-back.

David Pipe's Football Journey

David Pipe was born in Caerphilly, Wales. He started his football career in the youth team at Coventry City. He made his first senior appearance for Coventry City on 31 August 2002. This was in a game against Nottingham Forest. He scored his first goal on 5 October 2002 against Gillingham.

Playing for Notts County

In January 2004, David joined Notts County on a loan. He played his first game for them on 17 January 2004. Notts County won that game against Wrexham. Later in April 2004, he signed a permanent two-year contract with Notts County. He became a key player for the team.

Time at Bristol Rovers

David Pipe moved to Bristol Rovers in July 2007. They paid £50,000 to sign him. His first game for Bristol Rovers was in August 2007 against Port Vale. In November 2009, he went on loan to Cheltenham Town. He returned to Bristol Rovers in January 2010.

Captain at Newport County

In September 2011, David Pipe joined Newport County. He made his debut on 17 September 2011. He helped Newport reach the final of the 2011–12 FA Trophy in May 2012. They played at Wembley Stadium but lost to York City. David was named Newport County's Player of the Year for that season.

In June 2012, David became the captain of Newport County. A year later, he led his team to a big victory at Wembley. Newport won 2–0 against Wrexham in the 2013 Conference Premier play-off final. This win helped Newport County get promoted to the Football League. He was also named in the 2012–13 Conference Premier team of the season.

David played regularly for Newport County in their first year back in Football League Two. He made 25 appearances in the league. In April 2014, it was announced that he would leave Newport County.

Adventures with Forest Green Rovers

On 7 May 2014, David Pipe joined Forest Green Rovers. He signed a two-year deal and was also named captain. He played his first game for them on 9 August 2014. He helped Forest Green reach the Conference National play-offs in the 2014–15 season. However, they were knocked out by his old club, Bristol Rovers.

In September 2015, David was named the National League August Player of the Month. This was after Forest Green won seven league games in a row. He scored his first goal for the club on 22 September 2015 against Cheltenham Town. He helped Forest Green reach the National League play-off final in May 2016. They played at Wembley Stadium but lost to Grimsby Town. He left the club the next day.

Playing for Eastleigh

After leaving Forest Green Rovers, David Pipe joined Eastleigh on 20 May 2016. He signed a one-year contract with them.

Returning to Newport County

On 5 January 2017, David Pipe went back to Newport County on loan. He made his second debut for Newport on 7 January 2017. He played a key role in helping Newport stay in Football League Two. He provided an assist for the winning goal in a 2–1 victory against Notts County on the final day of the season.

After his loan, David signed a new one-year contract with Newport County on 18 May 2017. His contract was later extended until the end of the 2018–19 season. He was part of the team that reached the League Two play-off final at Wembley Stadium on 25 May 2019. Newport lost the final to Tranmere Rovers. On 23 April 2019, David Pipe announced that he would retire from playing football at the end of the 2018–19 season.

Representing Wales

David Pipe played for the Wales national team once in 2003. This was in a friendly game against the United States. Before that, he played for Wales at youth level. He earned 12 caps for the under-21 team.
