History of Dawson Village
How Dawson Got Its Name
Dawson was first called Noraville. This name was given when the town was planned out in 1872. This happened when the Atchison and Nebraska Railroad built tracks to the area.
However, the people living there really wanted to call their town Dawson. They wanted to honor Joshua Dawson, who was one of the first settlers in the area. Because of this, the name Noraville caused a lot of arguments among the residents. Eventually, the name Dawson stuck!
