Game Story: Daxter's Adventure
The game's story fills in a two-year gap from the beginning of Jak II. It starts after Jak is captured by the Krimzon Guard. Daxter, his best friend, manages to escape.
Daxter Becomes an Exterminator
Almost two years pass, and Daxter hasn't had any luck rescuing Jak. He has even forgotten about his friend for a while. Then, Daxter meets an old man named Osmo. Osmo hires Daxter to work as an exterminator. This means Daxter's new job is to get rid of bugs!
The Search for Jak
After doing a few exterminator jobs, Daxter spots Jak. His friend is being held in a special vehicle called a Prison Zoomer. Daxter chases after it, but soon finds himself surrounded by Krimzon Guards. Luckily, Osmo's son, Ximon, saves Daxter.
Daxter then gets a small bug sidekick named Tik. He goes to Baron Praxis's palace. There, Daxter finds a map that shows where Jak is being held prisoner.
Trouble at the Shop
When Daxter returns to the extermination shop, something bad happens. Tik, Daxter's bug sidekick, is killed by a bitter man named Kaeden. Kaeden seems to want to steal Osmo's shop. However, he is actually working for a secret evil boss.
Daxter tries to stop Kaeden from getting away. But Kaeden blows up the shop with a bomb he had hidden inside. Daxter and Osmo survive the explosion. Daxter promises to stop Kaeden, but only after he rescues Jak.
Rescuing Jak and the Big Reveal
Daxter sneaks into the prison and successfully rescues Jak. He then finds Kaeden, who reveals a big secret: Kaeden is actually a giant insect! Daxter fights and defeats him.
At the very end of the game, it's revealed that the whole adventure was a story. Daxter was telling this exciting tale to Jak and their friends at a bar.
How to Play: Daxter's Tools
In Daxter, you play as Daxter. Because of his new job as an exterminator, Daxter has some cool new tools to help him.
Daxter's Weapons
- Electro-Swatter: This is Daxter's main close-combat weapon. He uses it to hit enemies.
- Extermination Tank: This tank sprays bug spray. The spray can stun enemies, making them easier to deal with. Many players thought the spray looked like Green Eco from the other Jak and Daxter games.
Tank Upgrades
As you play, Daxter's extermination tank gets some awesome upgrades:
- Jet-Pack Mode: The tank can turn into a jet-pack! This lets Daxter fly around and reach new areas.
- Flamethrower: This upgrade adds flamethrower abilities to the tank. It also helps Daxter hover higher and longer when using the jet-pack.
- Ultrasonic Attachment: With this, Daxter can shoot a blue grenade-like projectile. This projectile causes a lot of damage in a wide area. However, it uses up a good amount of Daxter's bug spray.
