DeMarco Antonio Johnson (born October 6, 1975) is a retired American professional basketball player. He also worked as an assistant basketball coach. He played as a power forward.

Early Life and High School Basketball
DeMarco Johnson grew up in Charlotte, North Carolina. He went to North Mecklenburg High School. In 1993, he graduated from high school. During his senior year, he was chosen as an all-county player. This means he was one of the best players in his area.
College Basketball Career
After high school, Johnson played college basketball for the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. He spent four years playing for the Charlotte 49ers. In his first year, he was part of the All-Freshman team for the Metro Conference.
As he continued playing, he became even better. He was named a second-team All-Conference USA player. Then, he was chosen twice for the first-team All-Conference USA. In 1998, Conference USA named him their Player of the Year. This is a big award for a college player.
DeMarco Johnson earned a degree in criminal justice. With him on the team, Charlotte played in the NCAA post-season tournament three times. They were also the top team in the Conference USA regular season twice.
Professional Basketball Career
In 1998, DeMarco Johnson was picked by the New York Knicks in the 1998 NBA draft. This is when professional teams choose new players. He was the 38th player chosen overall.
He played in five games for the Knicks during the 1999-2000 NBA season. After his short time in the NBA, Johnson played basketball overseas. He played for many teams in different countries.
He played in Italy for teams like Sony Milano and Scavolini Pesaro. He also played in Spain with Etosa Alicante and in Greece with Olympiacos. In 2006, he joined a team in Slovenia. Later, he played for teams in the Israeli league. He played professionally until 2010.
Coaching Career
After his playing career, DeMarco Johnson became a basketball coach. In 2010, he became the head coach for the basketball team at Providence Day School in Charlotte. His team won 18 games that season. They reached the quarterfinals of their tournament, which was their best result since 2007.
The next year, Johnson became an assistant coach at Hampton University. He coached the Hampton Pirates until the 2015–16 season.
