DeMarco Antonio Johnson, born on October 6, 1975, is a former professional basketball player from the United States. After his playing career, he also worked as an assistant basketball coach at Hampton University.

Early Life and High School Basketball
DeMarco Johnson grew up in Charlotte, North Carolina. He went to North Mecklenburg High School and graduated in 1993. During his senior year, he was recognized as one of the best basketball players in the county.
College Basketball Career
After high school, DeMarco Johnson played college basketball for the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. He spent one year as a "redshirt" player, meaning he practiced with the team but didn't play in games. This allowed him to gain experience.
He then played for four years and was a very important player for the Charlotte 49ers. In his first year playing, he was named to the All-Freshman team for the Metro Conference. Later, he was chosen for the All-Conference USA team multiple times. In 1998, he was even named the Conference USA Player of the Year.
DeMarco earned a bachelor's degree in criminal justice. With him on the team, Charlotte made it to the NCAA post-season tournament in 1995, 1997, and 1998. They were also the top team in the regular season for Conference USA in 1995 and 1997.
Professional Basketball Journey
Playing in the NBA
In 1998, DeMarco Johnson was chosen by the New York Knicks in the 1998 NBA draft. He was the 38th player picked overall. He played in five games for the Knicks during the 1999–2000 season. In those games, he scored 6 points and grabbed 7 rebounds.
Playing Overseas
After his time in the NBA, DeMarco played professional basketball in many different countries. He played in Italy for teams like Sony Milano, Scavolini Pesaro, Metis Varese, Lauretana Biella, and Sebastiani Rieti.
He also played in Spain for Etosa Alicante and in Greece for Olympiacos. In 2006, he joined KK Union Olimpija in Slovenia. He also played in the Israeli league for Elitzur Ashkelon and Maccabi Rishon LeZion. His professional playing career ended around 2010.
Coaching Career
In 2010, DeMarco Johnson started coaching basketball. He became the head coach for the basketball team at Providence Day School in Charlotte. His team had a great season, winning 18 games. They also reached the quarterfinals of their tournament, which was the first time since 2007.
The next year, he became an assistant coach at Hampton University. He coached the Hampton Pirates until the end of the 2015–16 season.
