Deanne Cynthia Rose (born March 3, 1999) is a Canadian professional soccer player. She plays as a forward for Women's Super League club Leicester City. Deanne also plays for the Canada national team.
In August 2016, Deanne helped Canada win an Olympic bronze medal. She scored the first goal in their match against Brazil. In August 2021, she helped Canada win the gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics.

About Deanne Rose
Early Life and Soccer Start
Deanne Rose was born in New Tecumseth, Ontario. Her parents are from Jamaica. She started playing soccer when she was just four years old. Deanne grew up in Alliston, Ontario. She went to Ernest Cumberland Elementary School and later to St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Secondary School.
She played club soccer for a team called Scarborough GS United. In 2015, Deanne was one of six players nominated for a special award. It was the BMO Canadian Player of the Year for Canada Soccer's U-17 team.
College Soccer Career
In 2017, Deanne joined the Gators, which is the soccer team for the University of Florida. On August 20, she scored her first goal for the team. It was in a big 5–0 win against Troy. In her first year, she scored 9 goals. Five of these goals helped her team win the game. She also made 3 assists, which means she helped her teammates score.
Playing for Clubs
Early Club Play
In 2018, Deanne played one game for DeRo United FC in League1 Ontario. This is a soccer league in Ontario, Canada. She scored a goal in that game on May 19 against FC London.
Playing in England
In January 2021, Deanne was chosen by the North Carolina Courage in the 2021 NWSL Draft. This is a special event where professional teams pick new players. However, she did not join that team. Later, in December 2021, her playing rights were traded to the Orlando Pride.
On July 28, 2021, Deanne signed a two-year contract with Reading. This team plays in the English FA Women's Super League, which is a top soccer league for women in England. In her first game of the 2022-23 season, she got a serious injury to her Achilles tendon. This meant she couldn't play for a long time.
On September 8, 2023, Deanne signed a new two-year contract. She joined Leicester City, another team in the Women's Super League.
Playing for Canada
Starting with the National Team
Deanne Rose played her first game for Canada's senior national team in December 2015. She was only 16 years old at the time.
In February 2016, she scored her first two goals for the team. This happened in a game against Guyana. Canada won that game 5–0. It was part of the 2016 CONCACAF Women's Olympic Qualifying Championship. She scored her third goal of the tournament against Costa Rica. Canada won 3–1 and qualified for the 2016 Rio Olympics. Canada reached the final but lost to the United States 2–0.
Olympic Success
In August 2016, Deanne helped Canada win their second Olympic bronze medal. She scored the first goal in the third-place match against Brazil. Canada won that game 2–1. Deanne became the youngest female Olympic goalscorer ever. She was 17 years and 169 days old. On May 25, 2019, she was chosen to play in the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup.
Deanne was also called up to the Canada team for the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan. In August 2021, during the final game, Deanne scored a tying penalty kick in the shootout. The Canadian team went on to win the gold medal. This was the first time a Canadian soccer team had won Olympic gold in 117 years!
Recent International Games
Deanne was part of the Canada team for the 2022 CONCACAF W Championship. Canada finished as the second-place team in that tournament.
She was also chosen for the 23-player Canada team for the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup.
In 2024, Deanne played for Canada in the 2024 CONCACAF W Gold Cup. Canada reached the semifinals of that competition. She was also called up for the 2024 Summer Olympics.
