Deanne Cynthia Rose (born March 3, 1999) is a talented Canadian professional soccer player. She plays as a forward for Women's Super League club Leicester City. Deanne also plays for the Canada national team.

In 2016, Deanne helped Canada win an Olympic bronze medal. She scored the first goal in the match against Brazil. In 2021, she helped Canada win the gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics.

Early Life and Youth Soccer

Deanne Rose was born in New Tecumseth, Ontario. Her parents are from Jamaica. She started playing soccer when she was just four years old.

Deanne grew up in Alliston, Ontario. She went to Ernest Cumberland Elementary School. Later, she attended St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Secondary School. She played club soccer for Scarborough GS United. In 2015, she was recognized as one of the top young players in Canada.

College Soccer Journey

In 2017, Deanne joined the Gators team. This is the soccer team for the University of Florida. On August 20, she scored her first goal for the team. It was in a big 5–0 win against Troy.

During her first year, she scored 9 goals. Five of these goals were game-winners, meaning they helped her team win the match. She also made 3 assists, helping her teammates score.

Professional Club Career

In 2018, Deanne played one match for DeRo United FC in League1 Ontario. She scored a goal on May 19 against FC London.

In 2021, Deanne was chosen by the North Carolina Courage in the 2021 NWSL Draft. This is a special event where professional teams pick new players. However, she decided not to join that team.

On July 28, 2021, Deanne signed a two-year contract with Reading. This club plays in the English FA Women's Super League. This is a top professional league for women's soccer in England.

During her first game of the 2022-23 season, she had a serious injury. She ruptured her Achilles tendon, which is a major leg injury. This meant she had to miss a lot of playing time.

On September 8, 2023, Deanne signed a new two-year contract. She joined Leicester City, another team in the Women's Super League.

International Soccer for Canada

Deanne Rose first played for Canada's senior national team in December 2015. She was only 16 years old at the time.

In February 2016, she scored her first two goals for Canada. This was against Guyana in an Olympic qualifying tournament. Canada won that game 5–0. She scored another goal in the semifinal against Costa Rica. This win helped Canada qualify for the 2016 Rio Olympics.

At the 2016 Rio Olympics, Deanne helped Canada win their second Olympic bronze medal. She scored the first goal in the third-place match against Brazil. Canada won 2–1. At 17 years and 169 days old, she became the youngest female Olympic goalscorer ever!

On May 25, 2019, she was chosen to play in the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup.

In August 2021, Deanne played in the finals of the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan. During the penalty shootout, she scored a crucial tying penalty. The Canadian team went on to win the gold medal. This was a historic moment, as it was the first time a Canadian soccer team had won Olympic gold in 117 years!
